The Problem

People often struggle to find affordable supplies, and so much of it gets thrown away after just one use. It’s about finding a way to make moving easier, cheaper, and less harmful to the environment.

The Solution

A platform that simplifies moving by connecting people to gently used supplies like boxes and tape. Users can find, share, or sell materials nearby, reducing waste, cutting costs, and promoting sustainability.

User Research - Goal

The research goal for Boxio is to understand users' challenges with moving supplies to design a platform that makes moving easier, cheaper, and more sustainable.

User Research - Competitive Analysis

To understand how other similar services operate, identify their strengths and weaknesses, and uncover opportunities where Boxio can stand out in the market.

Comparative and competitive research revealed that existing platforms lack affordable, sustainable, and user-friendly options for sourcing and reusing moving supplies.

BlueBox offers eco-friendly moving box rentals and on-demand storage services in the San Francisco Bay Area. They provide reusable moving boxes with free delivery and pickup, offering a greener, more convenient, and cost-effective alternative to traditional moving supplies.

1-800-PACK-RAT offers durable portable storage containers for local and long-distance moving, with delivery, transport, and secure storage options.

PODS offers portable moving and storage containers, delivering them to customers' locations for flexible packing and scheduling. They handle transportation to new destinations or secure storage facilities, providing a convenient and adaptable solution for various moving and storage needs.

User Interviews

To understand the challenges of moving, I interviewed recent movers about sourcing supplies, cost concerns, and sustainability. Insights revealed a strong preference for gently used materials to save money and reduce waste, shaping Boxio’s user-centered design to address these needs.

Task Flow

Wireframes

I developed wireframes to refine the user experience at each stage. Starting with low-fidelity wireframes, I mapped out core layouts and user flows. In the mid-fidelity stage, I added structure, interactive elements, and improved functionality. Finally, the high-fidelity wireframes incorporated Boxio’s earth-toned color palette, typography (Inter), and detailed UI elements. Each phase was shaped by user feedback, ensuring an intuitive, visually appealing, and user-friendly design.
